For fine comminution of minimal quantities of dry laboratory samples or solids in suspensions. For mixing and homogenisation of emulsions. Input quantity up to 5 ml.
Areas of application
Well suited for sample preparation, such as in chemical analysis, chromatography, mass spectrography or x-ray structure analysis. Preparation of samples in genetic research, homogenisation of ingredients, preparation of extracts in forensic analysis, grinding of pigments and precious materials.
The PULVERISETTE 23 is also excellently suited for solubilising of biological samples and for low temperature comminution of frozen or chilled soft samples.
Method of operation
The rotation of a large direct current motor is converted into vertical oscillation movement via a lifting piston gear. Through oscillations of the grinding bowl of large amplitude and high frequency, comminution occurs in the grinding bowls due to the collision between grinding balls and the grinding bowl inner wall as well as through friction between the grinding balls and the grinding bowl inner wall.
In contrast to comparable mills, the ball-shaped grinding bowl inner wall is optimised for the comminution principle and achieves a significantly higher level of efficiency.

Equipment
The standard equipment delivered with the Mini-Mill PULVERISETTE 23 does not include a grinding bowl or balls. Grinding bowls and balls are offered in 4 different materials so that contamination of the samples through undesired rubbing off from grinding parts can be avoided.

Accessories
Please note: For this FRITSCH mill, you require a grinding bowl of your choice and the corresponding number of grinding balls. The grinding bowl material must also be harder than the material to be ground. In normal cases, grinding bowls and balls of the same material are used. Please take note of the useful capacity, this is not identical with the bowl volume!

10 ml 0.2 – 1 ml |
5 ml 0.01 – 1 ml |

The quantity of grinding balls can be reduced by up to 15%; however, increased wear should be expected in this case. The specified number/mass of balls per bowl is the minimum quantity; depending on the material behaviour, it may be necessary to increase this.
Normally, grinding bowls and balls of the same material are used. In principle, the grinding bowl materials must be harder than the material to be ground. Important: Pay attention to the specified useful capacity as this is not identical to the bowl volume!
It may also be useful to work here with grinding balls ≤ 3 mm diameter. We have not listed these here because we would like to advise you regarding your application. Please contact Mr. Gerber, email: gerber(at)fritsch.de
